I have a youtube addiction problem

one of the perks of being a university student is that you get to choose you the courses and when to attend them (not always the case) but also, with each passing year, the study pressure increases dramatically and things become more difficult, combine the fact that I get easily distracted and I have a major problem, now that I am a junior, I have to step up my act and prevent myself from going to youtube (seriously, it starts with one video then next thing you know, I am watching an hour video when I should be studying). its not going to be easy but it must be done or else I’ll pay the price.

this isn’t only for me, people who have this kind of addiction should learn to stop themselves now because you could be watching a video when you must be doing something even more important

vacation story plus “zombiu”

(I added bold and italic lines for a change -w-)

sooooo last monday, me and my family went to riyadh, my family stayed at my grandmother’s house and I was at one of my cousin’s house (it was vacation so I had to -w-), anyway we stayed at one of the guest house (it was small but if there’s a place to sleep why should I complain), there was a wii u (our main source of entertainment), luckily all of my cousins were there so it was a lot of fun, most of the time, would play tekken tag team tournament 2 and from there a I discovered a darker side of my cousins, usually when we play tekken, we would choose the normal vs battle and play against each other, some play with teams and some play solo, some use the same move over and over and over (aaaaaaand you get me point) while other attempt to make an awesome combo. we play vs again and again but then at some point it gets boring and most of my cousins would go outside and play around while me and the rest of my cousins stay inside (who does that anyway?!!!). so when it was my turn to play against one of my cousins, I suggested to play pair battle (basically, I choose a character and another chooses a character and fight against coms)…..that’s when things started to get interesting.

first off, the settings for the coms were set to “ultra hard” (because real men play on ultra hard >w<), to put it  short, we spent 30 minutes trying to beat the first two stages (while the coms were mopping the floor with our faces >_<), during that time, I have more curse words coming out of my cousin’s mouth than a regular episode of “american chopper” while I, myself knew that the coms were gonna be this difficult. I couldn’t help but laugh every time he curses. when we did finally managed to beat stage two and reached stage three….oh boy, that’s when the REAL rage comes in, it took us more than 15+ minutes just to beat the coms in ONE ROUND (yep, just one round and set the fight to be three rounds -_-….), but the fun part still hasn’t started, when one of my cousins that was outside got inside the guest house and saw me and the raging foul mouth playing, he said that he wanted to try and beat them (he seemed so confident >w<) and that’s when the cursing bonanza started. the two of my cousins choosing their best of the best characters they can play with getting their gaming butts handed to them, the two were cursing endlessly (one was already in college and the other was still in high school). it was soooo hilarious and what it even more funny is that the other cousins that were playing outside also got inside the guest house and them playing as well and wanted to try their luck. so now, all of my cousins were attempting to beat stage 3, they were cursing so much that if I had a counter, it would reach nearly to 3 curse words a minute and I was just sitting there watching as my cousins try to beat coms set at the most hardest settings laughing my butt off. somehow….some miracle, when I choose to try my luck, me and the first fowl mouth cousin managed to beat STAGE 3!!!! oh we were so joyous and happy, we bro-fisted and laughing and everything OwO……..but then -_-….we realized that this is stage 3 and we had four more stages left. he amount of time it took us to beat pair play mode on ultra hard is 59 (minutes):99 (seconds):59 (miliseconds)+ but it was worth it -w-  .

by the time it was thursday, nearly most of my cousins left riyadh because of school and university (damn them -_-…) and I was still in riyadh (so was my family), I wasn’t really worried about getting bored since I had packed manga, comics and some other things to keep me entertained (I played tekken again with one of my cousins that lived in riyadh, lets just say that playing against the hardest of coms, really does something to ya, I had 10 straight wins even with my cousin using the same moves again and again). during the afternoon I got a call from my mom that we’d be leaving riyadh at saturday, can’t say I was sad because I am not the type that likes to go out much (oh and because I have university at sunday >_<). anyway at friday, one of the older cousins who also lived in riyadh and me were at the guest house sitting minding our own business until I suggest we play “zombiu” (more like he plays and I sit next to him and be adviser)and I gotta say…..it was one of the best highlights of the vacation.

I forgotten how intense zombiu was, not because of the zombies but because of the punishment of dying, when you die in zombiu, you don’t get a game over, the person you are playing becomes a zombie and you play a different person and restart at the safe house (much like minecraft). what makes this more frustrating and scary is that everything you have collected is still there…except that its with the zombiefied former you, so you restart at the safe house with nothing but a racket and everything you need to survive is with a zombie somewhere in the game (imagine losing in an area filled with zombies O_O). me and my cousin were pushed mentally as we had to make decisions that can either help us or make things worse for us (the problem was that by the time we reached the critical part of the story, we were nearly out of ammo, no medkits to fill our health bar and there were zombies that needed more than just the head-on approach). anyway, I suggest getting “zombiu” not because for its scare factor but more if its life and death decisions you make in the game (you plan well and you won’t have much difficulty in the game but go in unprepared and you will face HELL).

anyway, that’s how my vacation went, how about yours?

Rising artist’s note blog thing #11 (yay OwO)

[[[[[[WARNING!!!!!!READING AHEAD!!!!!!!]]]]]]

ok let’s suppose that you learned everything about human anatomy (both male and female), you memorized the color table to heart (as to which colors fits with what), you know how to draw the great wilderness and the beasts as well, you mastered the art of conveying feelings through art and you know all forms of shading possible….but you know what, you could spend a whole month drawing the greatest drawing of your life and go display in front of the crowd, you would expect the people would line up and see such an amazing work you have made but no, people would just walk by, look at your art and go. you feel very disappointed and start to think as to what went wrong, you did everything right (I’ll get to the point just wait), when a passerby shows up, you ask what’s their opinion of your work, they would look long and hard and say (it is the most beautiful piece of art I have ever seen….in my head of course >_<) “its certainly amazing but its missing something”. now you would think it would be putting soul into the art or love or whatever lousy excuse any person can think of. well, the difference between art that is good but doesn’t capture attention and plain art that capture attention is the thickness of the line…..yep….your entire work depends on how well you’ve treated your lines, by now you’ve been reading everything I’ve written so far but by the time you reached to a sentence that was in bold, you suddenly slow down your reading and focus on what it says (regardless if it actually had something to do with the topic at hand). why do you think some headlines are in bold, to attract our attention, we humans are very visual-based creatures, we can be entertained through visual means (reading can be considered a visual mean since we are using our eyes to read whats on the paper).

(starting a new paragraph in case you were starting to get bored or you’re already passed that stage)if you want to have more depth, funk, power or whatever you call it, you need to learn how to very your lines. take cartoons for example, if you looked closely (not close enough to damage your eyes >_<), you would notice that the exterior lines of the character are more bold than the character’s interior lines, now why is that? because its makes the character stand out (try it yourself, make a nice drawing of a house, trees, the happy smiling sun and your character. now make your character have bold outer lines, you would immediately notice your character)not only that but manga artists seemed to have learned about this and applied to their own manga too, this caused different types of line thicknesses to appear (don’t worry, they’re not too many and they’re easy to learn), the first type which I like to call #1 the cube, which is basically the default bold outer lines thing (emphasizes on the presence of the character), #2 the ball, what you do is that you first establish where the light is coming from and where the shading will appears, you make the light parts have the thinner lines while the shaded parts have the thicker lines (this supposedly should give your art more depth), #3 the vase, this type focuses more on the curvature of the artwork (emphasizing it), to make this simpler to understand, draw a vase, when you draw the inward curves of the vase, add thick lines (just remember to add thin lines when curving outwards and thick lines when curving inwards), #4 and the final one, the block, this makes your art look a lot more close or further depending on how you adjust the lines. to do this, think of which part you want to put it close or to make further (thin lines to make look far away and thick lines to make closer) and adjust till you satisfied.

just to help you swallow this horde of information, I added a reference sheet that’ll hopefully help you understand this a lot better, I have researched this topic a lot of times and most of the times you would find something similar that I have discussed here, I suggest reading the book “how to draw manga, penning characters” (this book does contain partial nudity but not a lot to make it something for pg-18) for more information.

military forces potrayed as weaklings in movies and comics

[[[[WARNING!!!!!!!!!READING AHEAD!!!!!!!!]]]

this has been bothering me for quite a while now, we watch an action movie and we see the main character being chased by the military, the military fires a barrage of bullets and yet somehow, none of the bullets hits the character, ok I know he’s the main character but I am for damn certain he can’t stop bullets (apparently, the plot has demanded that no bullets hits the characters).

ok so I have never been to the military (my closest information about the military is through TV)(although if by chance you have been in the military then I salute you “salutes”) nor all that jazz but I am damn sure that the police force and the military are much much much much (and on and on and on) more accurate than that and more fierce, I have watched enough movies to realize that somehow, the plot demands the military and the police force to be a group of wimps that somehow were accepted to the force by chance, ever heard the phrase “I didn’t sign up for this”? it is by far the most used phrase in all of action movies. I am pretty sure if movies actually portrayed how the military and police forces are, then we’d see a totally different movie.

I am leaving no prisoners here, comics and manga (japanese manga) have this tendency of making the police and military forces weak as crazy (even fantasy ones), although I can’t name some american comics that follows such a pattern (but when I do, I will mention them, do countless nameless henchmen who are there just to show that the character is very strong count?), but its widely seen in manga, bleach is the first manga that comes to mind, for those who don’t know what bleach is (I would say google it but then again, I’ll be kind enough to spare you the finger-button pressing, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleach_%28manga%29), due to some events that happen in the story, the main character goes to a different world (very fantasy like), the way how this different world operates is like how the normal world is, you have the population, the default hierarchy and (wait for it) people to guard the world. now the people who guard the world work like a military force, you have the normal soldiers, the side captains and the captains, anyway when the guards discovered the main character (big surprise, a battle scene shows up), now you would expect that a person from the human world can never go up against a person from a totally different world, nope, as the story demands, the character mows down the guards like they were nothing (ok even though the main character has been trained by a professional, number of guards should’ve at least slowed him down), apparently, its an unwritten rule that any person who doesn’t have a name is worthless and can be defeated immediately and that the only reason why the person added them their in the first is to: #1 show off the characters powers #2 they’re added as place fillers (because not giving them names or even giving them a backstory is so much easier) .

anyway, with that out of my system, I can go back studying and doing whatever I do
